Eligibility Requirements

Concentra's Physician Review program offers over 100 affiliated doctors who make determinations on primary-care, occupational medicine treatments as well as 20 specialty areas.

To become a member of the Physician Review program, you must

  • be Board-certified by the AOA (Bureau of Osteopathic Medical Specialists) and ABMS (American Board of Medical Specialties).
  • be licensed, with no restrictions on the license
  • have any special certificates required by the state in which you practice.

The following reviews and checks will be conducted:

  • Curriculum vitae
  • National Practitioners Data Bank (NPDB) and Healthcare Integrity and Protection Data Bank (HIPDB)
  • Our National Medical Director will review your application and discuss any questions with you personally

Concentra ensures that, in order to perform Utilization Review, you meet all state requirements. Examples include the following:

  • California - State law requires that the treatment being reviewed is within the reviewing physician's scope of practice; an occupational healthcare physician can review physical therapies, non-invasive surgical procedures, and DME
  • Massachusetts - requires school-to-school match
  • New York - requires same state licensure
  • Texas - the reviewing physician must be on the Texas "Approved Doctor's List" (ADL)
